Using Construction and Demolition Waste Materials to Develop Chip Seals for Pavements

Construction and demolition waste (CDW) materials account for a considerable part of throughout the world. As these are not usually recycled, reusing them in construction projects is major significance. In this study, recycled concrete, bricks, glass were used as 100% aggregates chip seal, which corrective or preventive pavement maintenance method. A cationic rapid setting (CRS-2) bitumen emulsion was also to prepare seal. Different tests, including sand patch test, sweep British pendulum tester (BPT), interface bond, Vialit conducted. The results tests revealed that all had sufficient aggregate embedment vehicle speeds more than 70 km/h, number chips less 10%, indicating their good performance. All developed seals ranked high skid resistance at ambient temperature. with concrete showed best adhesion an asphalt surface aggregate–bitumen very cold temperatures due fact chemical compositions. Overall, using develop under different traffic loads recommended. Finally, findings can provide novel approach recycling CDW low costs.
